As you saw my previous post in my blog, you might feel the familiarity in terms of advertising. If yes, you are right. It is based on the ideal advertisement of "United Colours of Benetton", which is capturing different ethnic groups and promoting non-racism.
United Colours of Benetton's Advertising.
My initial concept was to apply Russian moment - Suprematism to my Utopia project with the fundamental element in Suprematism, which is geometry.
After doing exploration and research, it became a kind of experiments. I tried to apply the Primary Colours Theory, and capitalise the colours maxing to the project. Then, I went to warehouse and stationary shops to buy coloured gels, yet unfortunately, I could only buy magenta and green colours. In colour theory, maxing green with magenta it is gonna be bright white colour in terms of light. Therefore, I decided to project some magenta and green light in geometric shapes like squares, circles and triangles in to the original portrait photographs. However, the experiment wasn't success. I used photoshop instead of that.

After that, I did another experiment, which was holding variety of geometries, projecting the portraits on me, and then captured three shoots with holding diverse geometries. I adjusted the models faces that were projected on my white jumper appropriately. then, I overlayered three different images and change the opacity to reveal all of the shapes in one image. Afterward, I stitched those models' pictures together.
Thirdly, I played around with light painting. This idea is related to the Olypic five rings, which also means different ethicities. The portraits were projected onto thin fabric by OHP projector, meanshile, I capatured that images on the other side to generate or reflect the idea of 4 dimensions - Time. It is also related to cubism as well. (This is my friend's oppinion)
