Beam Gallery - Screen Space |
InnerSpace curated by Christian McCrea at
Beam Gallery (
screen space) showing some new multimedia artworks which are video games. This show is quite reflective to my performance in the Grad Show.
Remember when I had my
36 Photographs by Chance in the
Unitec Grad Show, I setup a game and played with the guests during opening night. In fact, It was a performance, even though I had a mathematical error. Since then, that experience taught me that a successful game should be tested and well-planned. When the game is being planned and made meticulously, the game of art will be formed naturally. Nowadays when you buy a new movie, it normally comes with a bonus disk which contains the making of, explaining how did the idea and concept were made. This suggests that the process could be a very important information to support the artwork itself.
I don't know why I have the feeling that the process of the 'games' in the show should be exposed in someway, but only rely on a piece of statement. Apart form that, it is a good show. The game of art is truly engaging people and push the interaction with viewers/players to the next level.
