Study attitude and teaching style
This is the most controversial topic, at least for me. I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable after reading my writing here.
About the study attitude, some of my classmates have a 'pass' attitude, which means as long as they pass the studio or electives, they will feel glad. I am not saying that is a bad attitude, and I think this, in a way, is good. However, if you truly study photography with passion, truly enjoy being sunk into the knowledge and without deliberately getting a good mark, then a good study result will follow you. That's what I believe.
In fact, there are not many people can do that.
I mean, when they said how passionate they are about photography, their works however cannot demonstrate their enthusiasm. Here is an example, if you love photography and willing to study photography in the class, why don't you come to the class everyday? I know most of the students have works to make a living and I appreciate that (I'm a very luck person. I don't have to worry too much about how to survive.) but look at the classmates who tried to attend every class, they usually have great marks, and their works generally can convey their ideas successfully.
Kirsten Weir and David Austin are the typical examples, both have kids, family and work to do. They contribute alot to classes although they are busy with loan of family things. How come they can manage their time so well and what others can't do this? What's wrong with that?
This is all about the word Passion, and it's not about 'Pass' ion. You can see they are truly passionate to make photographs. I am not saying I have the best attitude in study, but I want to say the word 'Passion' is about dedication, is about contribution and is about commitment. And 'Pass' ion is about dishonor or deceive yourself. Are you Passionate or 'Pass' ionate about photography? I don't know. But I can say I'm passionate about photography any more, because I am passionate about my creative life more than only in photography.
