Helvetica is a movie about typeface (I know it's not new) and loads of remarkable concepts can be found in the video. It is not only every designer should see, but everyone who works with creative also should see.
One mentioned that it should be focused on the context of the test, not the typeface. In a way, it is so true that we should focus on the context of the photograph, not the photograph; on the character of a person, not the outlook of the person, which is fundamental concept of communication I guess. The difference is that font is one of the most radical communication tools so we should care about it.
There is another documentary file call Typeface that I want to watch too. (I know it's not new too. It is hard to find a copy in Hong Kong, and I'm still looking for it.)
