Should I talk about politics in here - my blog, my visual diary? I've been thinking and thinking it over and over again since the Chinese Artist Ai Wei Wei has been detained. From a general perspective is Yes, because I care about the artist right in China and as an artist myself, I would never want to be detained in China in the future, therefore, we need to fight for it. However, from a perspective of myself, I should not comment on the case of Ai Wei Wei due to I really don't have many ideas how, when, and why this detention happened. Therefore I shall not comment or criticize on this particular event.

Instead, what I can do is look at other artists reaction with the expression of releasing Ai Wei Wei, study their works and post their works on here.

The above image - "Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn (掉漢瓶), 1995." is said that is one of the crucial works in Ai Wei Wei's early stage. It has the denotation of "revoke the OLD and replace it with the NEW".

The Hong Kong Arts Discovery Channel called for collecting images from the public, to copy the action of Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn for the sake of supporting Ai Wei Wei as well as requesting the Chinese government to release him as soon as possible. It is so "appropriate". Here, the word "appropriate" has duo-meaning. Firstly, it means copying, and secondly it means suitable. Appropriating the Ai Wei Wei's work as an expression to recuse the detention of Ai Wei Wei is the most Appropriate methodology.

The images collected by the Hong Kong Arts Discovery Channel were published on the 10th April 2011 Ming Pao.

over 200 people from the art field and politicians are supporting this "Appropriation"
