The British artist Bob and Roberta Smith use Gillian Wearing's approach to express their concern. |
Graffiti on the streets to express the concern of Ai Wei Wei's detention is, I think, the most efficient and effective approach. It's durable, hard to remove and wash out. Very ideal to induce people attentions. Due to it's illegal to paint graffiti stencils in Hong Kong (and other countries too), it's hard to trace the artist's name. Nevertheless, if they make posters with the Maoist or Marxist propagada genre, then the entire art work could be very interesting. The use of red, the exultant facial expressions and the radioactive-like graphic illustrations, which not only providing a feeling of delight to the viewers, but also revealing full of hope in the future. It's saying chairman Mao, everything are gonna be fine. Using this kind of communistic art approach to express the concern of Ai Wei Wei to the Chinese communists, they might be convinced by the "ecstatic" propaganda posters and release him for the Mao's sake. lol!!!
