Padding Home © Kacey Wong |
I really like Kacey Wong's Paddling Home piece. He built a tiny house-boat to reflect the property market boom in Hong Kong. Since HK is the most expensive price of property, the generation of the post-80s and 90s are hard to buy an apartment. The Padding Home is truly echoing nowadays the phenomenon of buying apartments, as if your home is being in the sea with high and low tide, floating around and out of your control. People really need to "paddle" in order to pay the mortgage. Look at the size of the apartment, you might think it is hilariously small, but in fact, most of the apartments in Hong Kong are tiny. People averagely paying HKD 7,500 for a square foot. How could people afford it?
