I'm amazed by
Dustin Shum's Blocks series, his meticulous compositions and the colorful environment content which reflect the irony of housing policies. Allow me to quote a sentence of his interview on
Gallery Guide (Issue 18, p.39): "... Shum is tuning into the common visual political language of government policies and their effect on people's lives across the border." Indeed, the "political landscape" images contain strong sense of criticizing on the housing policies. I feel gutted that I can't attend the artist talk next week as I'm going to the States tomorrow for a month. That would be very nice if I could have more in-depth conversation with Dustin.
