Riusuke attempts to deceive our eyes with his extraordinary drawing technique and acrylic material.
I was amazed by the video and wonder is he making a piece of painting or sculpture? "Everything has layers" recalled from Shrek movie, which I totally agree with. Looking at Riusuke's artworks, I just think his style not belongs to painting, nor to sculpture. Somehow, his unique work is somewhat redefining the genre of layering art. Consequently, Wooden tray, liquid, water and goldfish all are the "signifiers" (a term used in visual semiotics) of Zen, empowering the goldfishes reveal the sense of enlightenment and tranquillisation. One would say his works are 3D paintings, yet I would say Riusuke Fukahori's works are Layerings of Zen.
