Totem Recollection Tian Taiquan Photographic Exhibition @ Art Experience Gallery 圖騰記憶-田太權攝影作品展

It's been a long time. The last visit to Art Experience Gallery is last year October. Half year later, the gallery has brought to us a Photographic Exhibition. Tian Taiquan is a Chinese contemporary artist, whose works are circumscribe with the Chinese notorious topic of Cultural Revolution. Half-naked girls are the protagonists in the pictures. The idea of the theme is derived from some real cases. In the venus, there is a 30 mins long documentary video, which for me is an un-necessity. The video just purely record an interview with a victim's father and brother. The shots and sound are not prefect enough to show the main message, which leaves the exhibition a flaw.

It is Mr. Tian first time to show his three series of photographs in Hong Kong. I particularly like his Lost series which draws the viewer to a Chinese Taoistic cemetery with a little bit of gothic style. He also brought his photo book with more pictures to share in the spot, and I'm regret to say the most beautiful pictures aren't in this exhibition.
