The Silent Strength exhibition by Liu Xia - City University of Hong Kong

Liu Xia 劉霞 is a Chinese poet, painter and photographer, also is the wife of 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo 劉曉波. An exhibition is being hosted in City University of Hong Kong to 23rd June. At first the glance, I'm totally disappointed by the setting of the exhibition. Although this exhibition has a strong political subject matter, by looking at the presentation, you can tell how well the organizer is treated by the authority. It's hard to not think is that because of its political point of view which obtains an awful location. Daylight mixed with tungsten light bulbs and photographs on the floor without hanging which are the terrible things for both viewers and the artist. The expo-like setup really annoys and disrespectful. Well, I have no intention to criticize the host, just expressing my feeling of the exhibition and as a matter of fact, the development of "Art" in Hong Kong is still have a long long way to go.

In the contrary, Columbia University in the City of New York held the same exhibition in this year Jan and the result is so much different from the City University of Hong Kong. Just click the video below and see what is respectful for an artist.
