When audiences look at Yanjiang Group's calligraphy, possibly would think: What is that?
It's true this kind of unconventional artwork won't be easy for people to grasp. In fact, they are obviously trying to rebel against the traditional situation of calligraphy with the left over dinner, or call it food waste if you like, manipulating and pasting the waste upon an improvised ink calligraphy. Although the work of ideology is not vivid, the outcome seems really interesting. I guess its approach is similar to the idea of Happening art moment. While I was doing research on this group of artists on the website of Eastside Projects, it does also have a quality of Relational Aesthetics defined by Nicolas Bourriaud. It seems there are lot more for me to discover about the works.
