Flottille (detail) by Etienne Cliquet

Unlike the speculative skeleton of origami in Oritsunagumono by Takayuki Hori, the origami works of French artist Etienne Cliquet is more focused on the physicality of origami and technology. In the philosophical level, his concept even transcend a piece of paper.
"By folding, i mean folding everything and not only paper. I consider that i fold information and sense as well. Such terms like explicit, implicit, implicated, complex or even applied come from Latin « Plicare », to fold." Said Etienne.

It's really interesting that how Etienne transforms the origami art into a transcendent conceptual art. When the origami is unfolded, the crease on the paper become the "codes" of the origami which record its form and shape. In the last video, he tries to manipulate the "codes" with adjusting the time for the sake of making the origami moves. It is very very cool and clever experiment.
