When you hear someone says "Giant Gundam", it probably refers to either 18 meter-high Gundam in Tokyo Japan, or the fake Gundam in China. You would never think you can make one by yourself.
Taras Lesko (VisualSpicer) made a giant (for me) Gundam in 2011 with a super ordinary material - Paper. This paper Gundam was assembled with 1250 parts from 720 sheets paper, coloured by inkjet printer and weight 10 pound. Taras actually has experience of making paper craft. In 2008, he used 175 pages and spent 2 months to make a 4ft-high Gundam. Yet, just a year ago, Taras burned this paper craft.
On his Vimeo page, someone asked why would he do that? " I did this for the sake of doing something creative.", said Taras. His act reminds me a Taoistic ritual of burning the Chinese paper-mâché to worship the ancestors. If I were being worshipped, I wish my descendants could burn a paper crafted Gundam for me. lol
